Underlayments at Greenbuild Expo

MP Global Products will be showcasing its wide array of underlayment products at the upcoming Greenbuild conference, taking place Nov. 18 through 20 in Washington, D.C. High-performing flooring products are set to include:

  • UltraLayer (Discontinued), underlayment for ceramic and porcelain tile floors, made from 100% pre-consumer recycled textile content.
  • Perfectly Warm QuietWarmth Radiant Heat Film for Floating Floors, an in-floor electric radiant heat system featuring an innovative conductive ink technology embedded in a flexible thin film.
  • Perfectly Warm QuietWarmth Peel and Stick Electric Radiant Heat for Tile Floors, featuring an innovative conductive ink technology with a built-in anti-fracture membrane.

    Installing in-floor electric radiant heat is a hot trend under new floors in residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, providing evenly consistent supplemental warmth for individual rooms in homes, offices, and cubicles. A programmable thermostat in each room can preset times and temperature of operation.

    Designed for commercial installations, MP Global Products’ Perfectly Warm QuietWarmth Radiant Heat Film is engineered for floating floors, including laminate, engineered wood, hardwood, and luxury vinyl. The film installs easily over a subfloor or acoustic underlayment. The lightweight roll-out line voltage system employs low-wattage resistance heating of flexible radiant heat film, using just 12 watts PSF and conforming to the warranty requirements of many floating floors. Featuring an ultra-thin filament in a configuration just 4 mm (0.16 in.) thick, Perfectly Warm QuietWarmth installs quickly without mortar or glue. Available in several convenient rolls up to 14 m2 (150 sf), cutable to suit most floor layouts.

    MP Global Products also offers Perfectly Warm QuietWarmth Peel & Stick Radiant Heat for Tile Floors. The film is integrated into a waterproof anti-fracture membrane, which helps isolate up to 9.5-mm (3/8-in.) wide cracks in a concrete subfloor from telegraphing through to the tile surface.

    Similar systems are available for residential installations.

The underlayment, which is made in America (eliminating overseas shipping costs and minimizing transportation costs), is certified made from 100 percent pre-consumer recycled textile content (textile waste that might otherwise end up in landfill).

    Insulayment features an innovative construction whereby randomly air-laid filaments create a capillary effect to cushion the floor and absorb impact sound. The 1/8-inch thickness helps smooth out little subfloor imperfections.

    Using Insulayment with wood floors also helps improve walking comfort by dispersing the impact energy of each footfall to lessen the strain on knee and hip joints. In addition, the insulating value of Insulayment helps keep floors warm in the winter and cool in the summer, minimizing energy demands.

    Insulayment is available in 360-square-foot and 100-square-foot rolls.
