Transcript: “Great question. We usually ask the first question of what flooring you are installing and the installation type. If the installation only requires floating (no gluing or nail down application), the regular QuietWalk will be recommended. If you have a nail or glue-down application, we will recommend QuietWalk Plus as the film is malleable towards nails and has better adhesive properties for flooring glue adhesives. That leaves us the last member of the QuietWalk family – QuietWalk Luxury Vinyl. You got it, The QuietWalk Luxury Vinyl is made for luxury vinyl planks and tiles that are 2mm or thicker. Its dense properties provide denser support than the brother (QuietWalk) for planks and tiles.

Can you use QuietWalk underlayment under carpet to help reduce sound?
QuietWalk underlayment is designed for floating floor applications such as laminate, floating engineered, etc. We do make a carpet pad with the same composition of QuietWalk called QuietWalk Carpet Pad. You can view that product here: https://www.mpglobalproducts.com/carpet-pad/products/quietwalk-carpet/
We live in Hawaii and our condo board requires carpeting only, to protect the neighbor below from sound transfer through our thick concrete floor. Is there a product on the market for lining under laminate flooring that can demonstrate the necessary s to protection against this problem?
This depends on what your condo board is requiring for sound reduction. We do have our QuietWalk underlayment that can be installed under laminate flooring which helps dampen/reduce the noise from above/below.
